Your Best World-around Travel Tips, Please?

From Australia, for example, start over the Pacific to USA or via Asia to Europe? Best carriers? Best surprising places visited? You are providing advice to traveler who knows the USA-Canada, Mexico, Italy and the UK in some detail… SO where else? Preferring the authentic, rather than pools, classy eating clip joints, or levels of service. Assume two traveling together. Perhaps two months. Senior citizens. Thanks.

Suggestion:

Oneworld do a really good round the world deal. From about $4,000 you can do something like 16 flights going in a constant direction around the world… So from Sydney, I would head into South America and do some of the amazing places down there (Rio, the Andes, Santiago, some of the Incan/Aztec areas etc) then across to Europe to do Greece, Istanbul, Egypt, some middle eastern places, then maybe into China, then Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia etc for some amazing Asian cultures then back to Australia… You only need to spend a few days at some of the places to get a taste for the culture and to see the big sights…

Hope this helps and you have an amazing trip :)

I am in the US Air Force, and have traveled all over the world. I recommend the Azores Islands of Portugal, they have that authentic feel you are probably looking for. Also Austria in Europe is an amazing and breathtaking country.

In the Pacific, Thailand and Korea are both very great countries to visit, with great cuisines and very friendly cultures.

As for the USA, avoid the majority cities, they don't offer as much as you think. Visit CA Orange County, Washington DC for historic purposes, and NYC for a fun time.
